Hybrid Midwifery Care in Santa Cruz, CA
Hybrid care, sometimes called monitrice service, is a unique in-person combination of the midwifery model of care offered alongside the primary care you receive from your hospital provider. Below is a general idea of what to expect. You can visit the Homebirth page to review more in-depth what my assessments consist of.
For those living outside of my in-person service area, I offer virtual hybrid care. This model blends holistic midwifery wisdom with personalized coaching, designed to complement the clinical care you’re already receiving from your primary provider or birth team. Whether you're seeking emotional support, evidence-informed guidance, or a grounded presence throughout your journey, I’m here to walk alongside you, no matter the distance.
What to expect prenatally
As your midwife, I will provide prenatal care in addition to the visits you have with your primary care provider. I will provide holistic nutritional, herbal, + lifestyle recommendations, along with education on prenatal care, labor, birth, postpartum, newborn care, and lactation. Psychosocial and emotional check-ins are offered to support the changes and transformation throughout pregnancy, birth, and the fourth trimester. Each visit includes a comprehensive health assessment for both you and your baby, with hands-on growth estimation, fetal position monitoring, heart tone checks, and an overall well-being check for you. Prenatal appointments are approximately an hour long + take place in your home or virtually if needed. Visits generally take place every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 3 weeks from 28-36 weeks, + about every week from 36 weeks until your baby is born.
What to expect In Labor
We will stay in close communication as you approach the end of your pregnancy + throughout early labor. During active labor, you can choose an in-home check to assess your well-being, your baby's health, and a cervical exam, if desired, before heading to the hospital. Along with physical assessment, I can provide reassurance and perspective, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, positioning, and other techniques for optimal positioning + comfort.
What to expect after The baby is born
Once you go home from the hospital, I will provide primary postpartum care for you + the baby in the comfort of your home. Depending on the discharge day and time, I will make a home visits around day 2-3, 1 week, 3 weeks, and 6 weeks postpartum.
